  • We Welcome Mike and Dalene to Fish Eagle Bay.  They are the new managers, and we look forward to their input and enthusiasm at Fish Eagle Bay.

  • Dalene has many years of experience managing restaurants and is happy to improve and enlarge the menu.

  • Mike is assisting wherever he is needed and is doing a wonderful job with maintenance at the Lodge as well as the access road.
  • PIZZAS are also available at Fish Eagle Bay as well as Fresh Homemade buns for our famous hamburgers.

  • Suggestions: Recently we have preferred to travel to Malawi from South Africa via Botswana and Zambia.  The border crossing at Kasane / Kazungula by ferry goes quickly, but be careful of so-called agents cheating you with the US Dollar / Zambia Kwacha exchange rate.  Make sure you have some US Dollars to pay fees at the border and do not trust the people "assisting" you to cross quickly.  Compromise before making use of their service and stick to the amount agreed upon.
  • We have finished a large campsite next to the ablution which is suitable for 2x4 vehicles at a reasonable price. Easy access to the beach (approximately 80m) and sheltered camping for up to 8 parties including vehicles.
  • We still have our premium camp site on the beach for 4x4 vehicles only.
  • A solar pump pumps water from our well as soon as the sun shines on the panels, solar geysers warm the water to all chalets, refrigeration and lights work from a bank of batteries that are charged from the solar panels in the courtyard.

  • We have a Bar called Sunset Bar with a beautiful view of the lake.  Meals are also served there.

  • We have a vegetable garden with fresh vegetables available at all times.

  • We also have some beautiful monkeys, chameleons, leguaans (monitor lizards), and tortoises. The fish eagles still regularly catch fish in the bay, and there are many birds nesting in the trees.  Our two resident fish eagles have new offspring and we recently saw what looked like a territorial struggle! Haha! We have seen a genet, and of course there are many birds nesting in the trees

  • We are on Tracks 4 Africa.  Go to Malawi, then Nkohotakota and then Fish Eagle Bay on your Garmin GPS. It may be a good idea to print directions to take with you just to be sure.
