We have Kayaks to explore the Lake around the Sani area, and swimming from the wide open beach is safe and refreshing.
Tours
A tour to a local village, fishing village or up the historic Sani Hill can be organised, as well as a tour to the Hot Springs or a tour of the Slavery landmarks of Nkhotakota.
Fishing Boat
We can organise a local, safe fishing boat from a well-known fisherman to take you out on the lake to Chia Lagoon or fishing spots close by where you can catch Kampango, a favourite fish excellent for making beautiful fillets, or Chambo, best eaten whole. Usipa and Utaka are small fish that make a tasty meal with chips or rice from the area. Of course many people prefer Nsima, or a maize dish with any meal.
Restaurant and Bar
We have a Restaurant and Bar area where guests enjoy a variety of local beers or other liquor, soft drinks or whatever they feel like having. We offer traditional dishes made with fresh fish or meat from the area, listening to music or simply listening to the many birds and sounds of village children playing in the waters. Feel free to request the TV or music of your taste.
A Lounge is available where you can relax, get Wifi and catch up on your social media.
Transport
The ferry MV Ilala entered service in 1951. In recent years she has often been out of service, but when operational she runs from Monkey Bay at the southern end of the lake to Karonga on the northern end, via Nkhotakota. One can visit Chizimulu or Likoma island boarding the Ilala at Nkhotakota. The District Commissioner’s office have indicated that they are planning to rebuild the now unusable jetty at Nkhotakota.
